    How much does it cost to send money internationally with Western Union?

    The cost of a money transfer depends on a few factors, such as where you are sending money internationally, how you are sending the funds, and how you are paying.

    You can get an estimate for your international money transfer by visiting the send money form and selecting your destination and entering the amount you’d like to send.

    What do you need to send money internationally with Western Union?

    The information and bank account details you will need to send money abroad vary by where you are sending the funds and the payout method.

    To transfer money to a bank account, you will need:

    • Your receiver’s first and last name, as it appears on their government-issued ID
    • Your receiver’s country, and in some cases their full address
    • Your receiver’s phone number
    • In some cases, you will need your receiver’s International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and the receiving bank’s Bank Identifier Code (BIC or the receiving country equivalent)

    To transfer money to a Mobile Wallet1, you will need:

    • Your mobile phone number
    • Your receiver’s first and last name, as it appears on their government-issued ID
    • Your receiver’s country, and in some cases their full address
    • Your receiver’s mobile phone number

    Additional information may be required for some receiving countries. Before starting your transfer to a bank account, please remember to check the bank’s routing information.

    How do I send money internationally online?

    You can send money to qualifying bank accounts using your credit2 or debit card or pay by bank transfer. Here’s how to send money abroad online:

    1. Log in or register your free account. Click ‘Send now’ to start your transfer.
    2. Enter your destination and choose the amount you’d like to send. You can now send up to 50,000 € with Western Union to certain countries but you can check the country limits in the ‘Send money’ form.
    3. Select how your receiver will get the funds. You can select a past receiver or enter your receiver’s bank account details if you are sending money to a bank account.
    4. Select how you will pay – with your credit2 or debit card, by bank transfer or by online bank transfer (Sofort).
    5. Review and confirm and your money is on the way. We will send you a confirmation email with the tracking number of your transaction (MTCN). You can share this number with your receiver to track the funds.
    How do I send money internationally with the Western Union® app?

    The Western Union® app lets you send money on the go to a bank account, for cash pickup or to a Mobile Wallet.

    1. If you already have the Western Union® app, log in with Touch ID or your credentials. If you don’t have our app yet, simply download it on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. New users can follow the steps to sign up with an email address. If you are sending more than 1,000 €, you’ll need to verify your profile. You can do this using your driver’s license, passport or government-issued ID.
    2. Start a transfer by entering the destination country and choose the amount you’d like to send. Choose the payout method that works for you: directly to a bank account, for cash pickup or to a Mobile Wallet based on your receiver’s country. Then, enter your receiver’s details.
    3. Select how you will pay for your money transfer – via credit2 or debit card, with your bank account, or Sofort.
    4. We’ll provide the tracking number for your transaction (MTCN). Share this number with your receiver to track the funds. If sending to a Mobile Wallet, you and your receiver will get a confirmation alert via text notification when the money is delivered.
    How do I send money internationally in person?

    Simply find a nearby Western Union location and send money with the help of an agent in three easy steps.

    1. Set up the transfer. Provide the agent with your transfer details and present a valid ID.
    2. Pay for the transaction. Give the transfer sum together with all fees3 in cash or pay with your debit card.
    3. Inform your receiver. Share the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) with your receiver.
    How long does it take to send money internationally?

    The time it will take for your receiver to get the funds depends on where they are located and how they will receive the funds.

    In some cases, the money can be delivered directly to your receiver’s bank account in real time, but this varies by country. If you need to get money to your receiver quickly, cash pickup at a Western Union agent location takes just minutes.
